LIFE AS A WRITER

I sit at my computer.
I stare at the screen.
I spend two hours on one sentence.
I giggle at strange things.
I talk to myself.
I drink coffee. Serious coffee. Make-your-hair-stand-on-end coffee.
And sometimes I doodle.
(Yep, I drew the cartoon to the right and on the background.)
I pray.
I spend two more hours on that same stupid sentence because it refuses to cooperate.
(Perfectionists Anonymous, anyone?)
I pitch the dumb sentence and start again.
I pray more.
I chase words around in my head.
When I catch the right ones, they thrum in my soul, whispering truth.
They make me think and laugh and hope and know God in all his goodness.

I love what I do.
